Sharman Joshi is super brilliant, Madhavan really keeps you on your toes especially in sequences when he explains to his father, his point of view Boman Irani is wonderful as the head of the engineering institute. Boman Irani comes up with a performance that is on par with his scintiallating performance as Asthana in Munnabhai MBBS. Kareena Kapoor’s role is small but she gives maximum impact. Omi is sure to be a hit with audience. Jaffed Jafferi and Pareekshit Sahani put in noteworthy performances. Finally, we have the icing on this sweet cake-Aamir Khan. He may have come up with brilliant performances through his career, but Aamir Khan’s performance in 3 Idiots is the best. He breathes, looks and performs like a 25 year old. He proves that no one is close to him when it comes to pitching in a mindblowing performance.

Writer Ian Halperin tells the magazine, “Two years ago, a woman approached me with an audio file supposedly of Tiger Woods having phone sex. She wanted me to do a story on it. ‘Three Idiots which tells the story of three friends whose dismal grade point averages at their college influence their friendship, romance and career choices,[3] is rumoured to be loosely based on a famous novel, Five Point Someone by Indian writer Chetan Bhagat,[4] though it is denied by Hirani.[5]

Writer Chetan Bhagat has stated that he was not involved in the scriptwriting in any way.

”The director took my book as the base but he has changed it according to his requirements. He took permission from me before taking my story, but has not involved me in making it into the final script. But, he has shown me the final script and I have liked it too.” ”[6]

‘Three Idiots is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who has a long time association with Hirani and has produced all his previous directorial ventures, whilst Abhijat Joshi and Rajkumar Hirani have written the screenplay. The film’s soundtrack is composed by Shantanu Moitra with lyrics penned by Swanand Kirkire.

The shoot of the film with the supporting characters began on 28 July 2008. Hirani and his team left in late August for the shoot with the principal cast. The film was shot in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ladakh and Shimla. Aamir and rest of the cast began shooting in early September. Hirani planned to wrap up the film by December.[7] The first scene was shot in an aircraft with Madhavan. From Mumbai, the crew and cast comprising Aamir and Kareena went to Ladakh for a 20-day schedule.[8] The shooting also took place at the Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore for 33 days as a part of the second schedule of production.[9] There was also a wedding scene filmed between Kareena and Sharman.[10]
