I am looking a selling a cedar strip canoe I built a few years back. I want to list it on ebay but shipping something that is 60 lbs and 16 feet long is a bit of a challenge. I will crate it but it will add weight and size. What is the best way to ship this and do you know what I need to do for customs?

My fiberglas canoe had ash wood rails which are pretty beat up. I was thinking of replacing them with pvc or metal. I would like some pointers to web sites which might describe the process for replacing or discuss the merits of switching from ash to plastic or metal. Or sites which actually sell kits would be fine as well - not looking to go broke here since I can build the parts myself.

I have been using a 16 foot Coleman plastic shelled canoe for nearly 20 years and discovered today that there is a small hole in the bottom of it. It was caused by dragging the canoe across a parking lot. I wonder if there is some sort of poxy that would work well in repairing the hole. Any ideas?
